The Game Divas – Divas of Destruction

Who we are: The Divas is an online community for women gamers and friends. Unlike traditional clans, we neither require group membership nor have we implemented a “one clan only” rule to be a part of this group. Membership is open to all women, regardless of clan affiliation, gaming platform or games played. We’re not out to steal members from other groups, and all of our existing members are, in fact, active members of well established gaming clans. We encourage our members to stay active in their clans, because strong clans are important to the gaming community. We’re happy with the clans that we’re with, but sometimes we just need to let loose as girls and play a few informal games as friends. The Divas provides the resources to make that happen, and to connect with other women in a largely male online gaming world. Sometimes it’s lonely being the sole female gamer in your group. We’re here to let you know that you’re NOT alone.

The Divas do not have organized teams or compete in ladders, nor do we hold practice sessions. Everything we do is for fun, not competition.

Our Tag: The Divas have adopted an optional community gaming tag of ~DoD~ to denote that the girl wearing the tag is a member and/or supporter of this community. Please do not confuse this with a mandatory clan tag that clans issue. Any girl wishing to add the tag to their name is welcome to do so in any/all games that they choose, but the tag is always 100% optional and does not supersede any existing tag that a member is authorized to wear. As an example, I belong to the Divas group and two other gaming clans. [*Girlz*], and =GP=. When playing Counterstrike, I wear my [*Girlz*] clan tag to show that I’m a member of that CS clan. When I play COD4 or Enemy Territory, I wear my =GP= tag to show that I’m an active member in that clan community. (Yes, I play with a =GP= tag even when I'm on a ~DoD~ server.) If I play other games that aren’t played by those clans, I have the option to wear a ~DoD~ tag signifying my support of this community. Any variation to our tag, such as wearing it behind you name in conjunction with your regular clan tag, i.e. [*Girlz*]Vixen~DoD~ should be discussed and authorized by your clan before doing so, and is at their discretion. We’re not here to create conflict.

Our Servers: The Divas community currently has 67 public game servers covering 48 different games, a Teamspeak server, two Ventrilo servers, and GSC. Most of these are hosted on my two 50/10 business lines and on my personal game server machines, so we still have plenty of room for expansion. Because most are hosted by me personally, they are, and always will remain absolutely free. We will NEVER solicit funds from anyone to pay for our servers, because unlike most clans that rent their servers from other companies, we have minimal server costs. (High bandwith and busy game servers are hosted by a game server company to ensure the best possible lag-free connection for players) All of our in-house servers currently feature quad or octo core processors, 8-12GB of memory, and run RAID storage arrays for maximum gaming performance.

How we grow: As a new gaming community, growth is of paramount importance. Part of our growth strategy is to introduce ourselves to as many groups and clans as possible, and to build friendly alliances and friendships. Most of the members here were first introduced to us in this fashion, and I think that we’ve built one hell of a community in our first few weeks of operation. The Divas isn’t just for the girls, but also for the guys of the gaming world to hang out with the girls and have fun too… We all interact in real life, and that shouldn’t change in an online environment.
